Meerut Police Dismiss Stampede Rumours at Shiv Purana Katha Event
Meerut: The Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday dismissed as "false and false" reports of a stampede during the Shiv Purana Katha programme in Meerut and made it clear that the event was going on without any interruption. The police assured the people that there was no stampede and everything was going on peacefully. The Superintendent of Police (City) and Superintendent of Police (Crime) issued a joint statement. Officials said there was no stampede-like incident at the Shiv Purana Katha event. This is completely false and false information. The event is going on peacefully and police officials are deployed in the area. He also informed that the situation is completely under control and the Shiv Purana Katha is being organized peacefully.
Police also said that no untoward incident took place during the event and they were ensuring that the event continued without any problem. The clarification came at a time when some people were concerned about the security of the event. The police also assured that they are taking necessary steps to prevent the spread of any kind of rumours so that peace of the event is not disturbed.
Some people had spread rumours that there was a stampede during the Shiv Purana Katha program in Meerut, due to which many people were injured. However, the police denied the information and said it was just a rumour and the event was going on without any hindrance.
