Farmers Stage Nationwide Tractor Marches; Dallewal's Health Deteriorates

Deteriorating Health of Farmer Leader Dallewal Raises Concerns
Published on:

Today, farmers will conduct tractor rallies nationwide except Punjab to advocate for 13 demands, including the minimum support price (MSP). These tractor rallies will occur from 10:30 am to 2 pm.

However, the event will not be held in Punjab. In the meantime, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is currently on a hunger strike at the Khanauri border, has written a letter to the President. A duplicate of this letter will be given to the DC and SDF.

Dallewal began his hunger strike on November 26. He has been held by Punjab Police for 96 hours at the Khanauri border and has lost weight. A group of physicians is monitoring his health. They have cautioned that Dallewal is in danger of experiencing a silent heart attack. His physical condition has deteriorated, necessitating hospitalization.

Sarwan Singh Pandher, the convener of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, had penned a letter to the farmer unions in Punjab, urging them to unite on a single platform.

Ruldu Singh Mansa, president of the Punjab Kisan Union, which participated in the Punjab Assembly elections, raised questions about the letter. He mentioned that Jagjit Singh Dallewal, a key figure in the movement, is present, but the letter lacks the signature of his union. There was no comment from the leaders connected to Dallewal's organization.

Meanwhile, Pandher commented that this issue pertains to the internal committee, which is carrying out its assigned duties. Punjab Kisan Congress president Bikram Singh Sandhu will stage a hunger strike at Punjab Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh in support of Dallewal.

On Sunday, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav and Union Home Director Mayank Mishra met with Dallewal. Mayank mentioned that he has looked into the farmers' demands. He dismissed any possibility of discussions with the Centre. The Supreme Court had mandated medical assistance for Dallewal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting on Saturday with Home Minister Amit Shah and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh. The ministers updated Modi on the farmers' protest. BJP president JP Nadda and Union Minister Piyush Goyal also attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, International wrestler and Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat also reached Khanauri border on Sunday.

During this, She highlighted that Dallewal was risking his life for the sake of others. I call upon the citizens of Punjab, Haryana, and the entire nation to support this protest. He further remarked that the country is currently experiencing a crisis. The Government must come up with a solution. PM Modi delivers impressive speeches and addressed Parliament yesterday, but now he needs to act rather than just talk.
