Congress Slams BJP for Using Constitution to Criticise Party
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Sunday took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying that because of Rahul Gandhi, the BJP is talking about the Constitution. He said Prime Minister Modi's "only" agenda was to criticise the Congress in the name of the Constitution. Venugopal said the country expects a response from the Prime Minister on issues like Manipur, Adani (indictment) issue and the ongoing Sambhal violence. "It was a clear repetition of his previous speeches," Venugopal told the media. The country had expected a response from the Prime Minister on Manipur, Adani issue and Sambhal violence. The whole country is disappointed. Their repeated and only agenda is to malign the Congress party in the name of the Constitution.
Congress accused of "weakening" provisions of the Constitution
Everyone knows what was the stand of the RSS on the Constitution... The credit for this goes to Rahul Gandhi because of him that the BJP is talking about the Constitution," he said. "One nation, one election is not at all practical in this country... We can't accept that. Meanwhile, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday slammed the Congress on the lines of recent remarks made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha. He accused the Congress of "weakening" the provisions of the Constitution to suit its interests. The Union minister said important provisions of the Constitution were amended to make them friendly and protected by the Congress family. "PM Modi has very clearly explained how in the last 75 years and during nearly six decades of Congress rule, the provisions of the Constitution were weakened, amended and changed to suit the interests of the Congress, basically the family which is called the first family of the Congress party.
Country's politics is free from "familyism"
Important provisions of the Constitution were amended to suit and protect the Congress family. This is what the PM has said and this is something on which the PM has not given his opinion, he has stated the facts. Earlier, PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing it of continuously disrespecting the Constitution and introduced eleven pledges for the bright future of India, stating that the government and the people should perform their duties and the country's politics should be free from "dynasticism". Replying to a two-day debate in the Lok Sabha on the completion of 75 years of the Constitution, PM Modi repeatedly referred to the Nehru-Gandhi family and accused every generation of its leaders of disrespecting the Constitution. "The Congress has consistently insulted the Constitution. It has tried to diminish its importance. The history of the Congress is replete with such examples. He took a "biggest jumla" dig at the Congress over its 'Garibi Hatao' slogan and said his government's mission was to free the poor from their difficulties.
