Weather Alert: Normal Temperatures Expected in Many States This Winter

Weather Forecast: The Meteorological Department has predicted that this winter will have fewer cold wave days, with temperatures expected to stay normal in many states from December to January.

The department reports that the number of cold wave days could decrease by two to six days over the next three months in Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat.

In December, the chances of experiencing cold wave days are low, except in the mountainous areas. Additionally, there could be rainfall in the North-West and North-East regions. At the same time, pollution levels in Delhi-NCR are concerning, with the AQI recorded at 308 as of 9 am today.

Snowfall In Jammu and Kashmir On Monday Night

On Monday night, Gulmarg and Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir experienced snowfall. Meanwhile, in certain districts of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, temperatures have dropped to 10 degrees.

The southern states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala are witnessing intense rainfall due to the Fengal storm. In the last four days, storms in Tamil Nadu have caused 12 deaths.

Snow Cover Area Decreases, Rain Increases

The snow-covered region in the Himalayas has reduced by 32% compared to February this year. The monsoon brought 108% of the usual rainfall. As a result, there is a lower likelihood of experiencing severe cold this time.

In the previous year, the snow-covered region increased to 40%. At the same time, monsoon rainfall reached 94%, resulting in extremely cold weather.

Cold Wave Likely To Hit Delhi from December 5: IMD

The temperature in Delhi is expected to stay consistent for the next 24 hours. However, a slight drop beginning on December 5 could result in cooler conditions.
