Noida Traffic Disrupted as Police Prepare for Farmers' Protest March to Delhi

Noida: In response to the anticipated disruptions caused by the farmers' protest march to Delhi, Noida Police have heightened security measures, implemented vehicle checks, and released a comprehensive traffic advisory on Monday.

The Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) along with other farmer associations staged a protest calling for compensation and advantages related to agricultural reforms, including a legal assurance for the minimum support price (MSP).

Photos from the Chilla border in Noida showed lengthy queues of vehicles caught in traffic. The congestion continued as police carried out security inspections on roads in anticipation of the farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' march.

The Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), and other farmer groups had previously declared their intention to march to Delhi on Monday to seek compensation and benefits under the new agricultural laws.

The initial group, headed by BKP leader Sukhbir Khalifa, will commence their procession beneath the Maha Maya overpass in Noida at 12 PM on December 2.

Beginning on December 6, more farmers will join the protest, which will occur daily from 9 am to 5 pm. The farmers participating in the protest will remain on the road overnight.

  • Noida Police have heightened surveillance at all Noida-Delhi border points. Strict inspections and traffic rerouting are being implemented to maintain safety at the Delhi-Noida border.

  • To travel from Chilla Border to Greater Noida, vehicles should use the Sector 14-A flyover, pass through Golchakkar in Sector-15, and then continue via Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk and Jhunjhupura Chowk to reach their destination.

  • Alternative routes from the DND Border to Delhi include taking the Film City flyover, continuing to Sector-18, and then using the Elevated Road for a smoother journey to Delhi.

  • Regular vehicles traveling from Kalindi Border to Delhi should take the Mahamaya flyover and then go through Sector-37 to enter Delhi.

  • Those traveling from Greater Noida to Delhi are advised to take the Charkha Golchakkar route and then continue through Kalindi Kunj for an easy entry into Delhi.

  • Vehicles traveling from Greater Noida to Delhi through Sector-51 should utilize the Hajipur underpass, then continue towards Kalindi Kunj via Sector-51 and Model Town.

Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) leader Sarwan Singh Pandher mentioned to the media on Sunday that farmers have been protesting at Shambhu and Khanauri for 293 days.

He condemned the BJP-led administration, claiming it hasn't had any discussions with the farmers since February 18. He alleged that the Centre is evading negotiations and reiterated that the farmers oppose contract farming, insisting on a legal assurance for the MSP on crops.
