Kharge to Urge President Murmu on Manipur Crisis: Jairam Ramesh
On Tuesday, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh announced that party president Mallikarjun Kharge will soon write to President Droupadi Murmu regarding the tense situation in Manipur.
Today, Congress leaders including Manipur party chief K Meghchandra Singh, Manipur Congress MPs Bimol Akoijam, and Jairam Ramesh met with Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence.
After the meeting, Jairam Ramesh told the media, 'We had a meeting with the Congress President today.
In due time, the Congress president will address the current situation in a letter to the President.'
When the Parliament session begins, the India Block will convene to discuss possible collective actions.
The NPP has retracted its support. The Prime Minister will not visit Manipur, where the situation is extremely sensitive and could erupt into violence at any moment.
We empathize with Manipur's plight and urge the Prime Minister to visit and meet the people.
This situation reflects the Home Minister's failure. According to Congress MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam from Inner Manipur, the state is in a dire condition.
The government's neglect and lack of decisive action have exacerbated the situation. I have urged my party president to consult with top leadership consistently.
The government is failing in its duties. Despite the presence of two Army divisions and thousands of central armed police personnel, what is missing is political will and honesty.
These are the crucial elements the Government of India lacks in addressing the state's issues.
On Monday, the Manipur government declared the continuation of the temporary suspension of internet and mobile data services in the regions of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Thoubal, and Churachandpur.
This suspension will remain in effect until 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20.
