Delhi Pollution: Online classes for all Except 10th, 12th Amid Severe AQI
Pollution level in Delhi is rising steadily for the past few weeks, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 4 in Delhi NCR from Monday.
Air Quality Index (AQI) witnessed a decline and reached the 'severe plus' category.
Online classes Start in Schools
The decision was taken after Delhi's daily average AQI sharply rose to 441 at 4 pm on Sunday and it rose to 457 by 7 pm, following which an emergency meeting of the GRAP sub-committee was called.
The steps taken under Phase IV of GRAP include stopping entry of truck traffic into Delhi and banning construction and demolition activities except trucks carrying essential commodities and providing essential services.
10th and 12th Online
Meanwhile, in view of the pollution, the Delhi government has ordered to conduct online classes for all students, except those of class 10 and 12. Heads of schools have also been directed to ensure classes in online mode for students of these classes till further orders. Physical classes for students of classes 10 and 12 will continue as usual.
Child's Online Classes
A man named Raju Lal said, "Two of my children study here, one in Class 9 and the other in Class 10. I dropped my Class 10 student to school here... A child studying in class 9 has online classes... Pollution affects children more..." A thick layer of smog enveloped the city of Gurugram as the air quality continues to deteriorate.
In response to the worsening air pollution, Haryana's Nuh administration has declared holidays in schools up to Class 5 from November 18 to November 22, according to an official order.
According to an order issued by the office of the District Basic Education Officer, Nuh, a holiday has been declared in all government, semi-government and private schools in Nuh district of Haryana. The administration has directed all block education officers to strictly follow the orders in their respective blocks.
