Women World Cup: Harleen Deol and Amanjot Kaur, two talented cricketers from Punjab who played a key role in helping India clinch its first-ever Women’s Cricket World Cup, were given a heartwarming welcome by the Punjab government at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport upon their return home.
Women World Cup: Ministers and MLAs extended heroic reception
Representing the Punjab government, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer reached the airport especially to greet the champions. They were joined by MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora, District Planning Board Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur, Jaswant Kaur, and Councilor Sarabjit Singh Samana.
The airport was filled with celebration and pride as officials from the Punjab government, district administration, and sports department honored the victorious players with traditional drum beats, flower garlands, and cheers.
Women World Cup: Punjab Government Announces Special Recognition
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had already congratulated team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, along with Harleen Deol and Amanjot Kaur, through a video call soon after the historic win. Ministers Cheema and Hayer remarked that these young women have brought immense pride not just to Punjab but to the entire nation. They also announced that all three players will receive a special honor from the Punjab government once captain Harmanpreet Kaur returns to the state.
