National Unity Day 2025: National Unity Day is celebrated every year on October 31st. This day is dedicated to the great freedom fighter and first Home Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel aka Iron Man. Sardar Patel’s contribution to the unification of the country after independence is inspiring. He successfully integrated all of the 565 princely states that had gained independence from British rule into the Indian Union. It is because of his determination, wisdom, and leadership that India stands today as a united nation.

In 2014, the central government announced that Sardar Patel‘s birth anniversary, October 31st, would be celebrated as National Unity Day. The purpose of this day is to remind people of the importance of the country’s unity, integrity, and security. This year, the day is being celebrated under the theme “Ek Bharat, Atmanirbhar Bharat,” reflecting the country’s resolve to become strong and self-reliant.
