Indian Navy Motto: Navy Day is celebrated every year on 4 December to commemorate the achievements of the Indian Navy and its contribution to national security. The day marks the Navy’s success in the 1971 war, when under Operation Trident, the Indian Navy dealt a severe blow to the Pakistan Navy by sinking four Pakistani ships, including PNS Khaibar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to all Indian Navy personnel on the occasion of Navy Day and praised the Navy for its growing self-reliance, determination and valour in protecting the country’s maritime borders.

The Prime Minister extended Navy Day greetings to all personnel of the Indian Navy and said that our Navy is synonymous with extraordinary courage and determination. They protect our coasts and uphold our maritime interests. In recent years, our Navy has focused on self-reliance and modernization. This has further strengthened our security posture.
Indian Navy Day 2025
The Indian Navy on Wednesday showcased its growing maritime capabilities at an operational showcase off the Thiruvananthapuram coast in Kerala. From the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant to the frontline warship Udaygiri, the event highlighted the force’s multi-domain combat readiness. President Draupadi Murmu, the supreme commander of the armed forces, witnessed the display from Shangumugham beach as part of the Navy Day celebrations.
Indian Navy Power
A total of 19 major warships including INS Vikrant, a submarine, four fast intervention ships and 32 aircraft including fighter jets, surveillance aircraft and helicopters participated in the demonstration, showcasing the Navy’s growing operational reach and preparedness.
