Delhi Metro Timings on Holi: In light of the upcoming Holi festival, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued an important advisory for commuters. This year, Holi falls on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, and to ensure smooth operations along with the safety and security of passengers during the celebrations, the Metro services will operate on a revised schedule for the day.
Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, as the start of services will be delayed, and certain adjustments may be made to train frequency. DMRC emphasizes that these changes are implemented to provide a safe and comfortable travel experience amidst the festive crowd. Passengers are encouraged to check updated timings in advance and follow all safety guidelines while traveling on the Metro during Holi.
Delhi Metro Timings on Holi: No Metro services till afternoon
According to the DMRC, train services will not be available on any Delhi Metro line from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM on March 4th. This rule will apply to all corridors, including the Airport Express Line. This means that metro services will not operate from any station during this time. Metro trains will resume service from all terminal stations after 2:30 PM, and operations across the network will gradually return to normal thereafter.
Delhi Metro Holi Timings: Decision taken keeping in mind security and crowd management
The Delhi Metro administration stated that during the morning hours of Holi, people play with colors and celebrate in public places on a large scale. This increases the likelihood of unusual crowds, dirt, or chaos at metro stations and trains. Keeping these circumstances in mind, the decision to temporarily suspend morning services has been made. This helps ensure passenger safety, maintain station cleanliness, and allow staff to better manage the situation.
Metro Timings: Services will run normally after noon
The DMRC has clarified that after metro services resume at 2:30 PM, trains will operate according to their regular schedule. This means that passengers will continue to enjoy metro service during the evening and night hours as usual. Passengers have been advised to use alternative modes of transport such as buses, autos, taxis, or private vehicles if they must travel on Holi morning.
Officials released an official statement
DMRC Principal Executive Director (Corporate Communications) Anuj Dayal stated that this special arrangement will be in effect only for Holi. He added that the Delhi Metro will resume its normal schedule from March 5, 2026. He urged passengers to check the official website or mobile app for updates before traveling and to exercise caution in crowded areas.
DMRC New Update: This system is adopted every year
The Delhi Metro has had a tradition of starting services late on Holi for several years. This is intended to avoid potential disruption during the festival and ensure the safety of both passengers and staff. This allows people to celebrate the festival comfortably in the morning and travel safely in the afternoon.
Important advice for travelers
