Arvind Kejriwal in Gujarat: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal met with farmer families who have been victims of repression by the BJP government in Gujarat on Monday in Rajkot. He honored the farmers who had been jailed on false charges and later released, and interacted with them. Arvind Kejriwal said that the entire state of Gujarat is suffering from the BJP government’s oppression and is saying, “BJP, leave Gujarat.” Mahatma Gandhi started the ‘Quit India’ movement and drove the British out of the country, and now the movement that started in Hardad will drive the BJP out of Gujarat. Like the British, the BJP has become arrogant, believing that no one can remove them from power in Gujarat, but this time their arrogance will be shattered. Gujarat in-charge Gopal Rai, MLA Gopal Italia, and other senior leaders were also present during the meeting.

Addressing the farmer families, Arvind Kejriwal said that the farmers are not just fighting their own battle, but the battle of all the farmers of Gujarat. Our country was enslaved for 150 years. It seemed that our country would never be free. The British were arrogant, believing that the people of India would always remain their slaves, and that India would never be free. But Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, both from Gujarat, together liberated the entire country. The BJP has been in power in Gujarat for the last 30 years. The BJP has also become arrogant, believing that no one can remove them from power in Gujarat. That is why they want to control people through batons, tear gas, imprisonment, and FIRs. But now, the fear of the BJP is gradually disappearing from the hearts of the people of Gujarat.

Arvind Kejriwal in Gujarat: Farmers were subjected to atrocities in Hardad

Arvind Kejriwal said that he had come to Gujarat last month to meet the farmers. In Hardad, farmers were subjected to lathi charges, tear gas shells were fired, false FIRs were filed, people were jailed, and farmers were suppressed. I couldn’t stop myself and came from Delhi to Gujarat to meet the farmers. But the BJP government’s police did not allow me to meet the farmers. Where our meeting was held, a separate stage had been set up for the farmers. The BJP sent the police and had the stage dismantled. When I went among the people, I was not allowed to meet them.

Arvind Kejriwal said that Mahatma Gandhi launched the Quit India Movement against the British in 1942. Similarly, the Hardad movement is going to prove to be a “BJP Quit Gujarat” movement. The BJP has to be driven out of Gujarat. Only then will people get justice. Justice will not be achieved merely through protests. Justice will only be served when the people of Gujarat press the button against the BJP. During the Hardad movement, 88 farmers were arrested. However, no one threw stones or committed any wrongdoing. People had only gathered to demand their rights against the Karada system. Gujarat is the land of non-violence, Gandhi, and Sardar Patel. But the BJP government filed false cases and put everyone in jail. Out of 88 people, 42 have been released from jail so far, but 46 are still in jail. The Aam Aadmi Party will not rest until all of them are released from jail. We have formed a team of lawyers who will ensure that every single person is released from jail.

Arvind Kejriwal praised the courage of the farmers, saying that despite so much repression by the BJP government, the farmers have not given up and are standing firm. You have given courage to the people of the entire Gujarat. In the coming days, the whole of Gujarat will stand against the BJP, and we will not rest until we drive the BJP out of Gujarat. He said that these people had also put me in jail. My only fault was that I raised the voice of the people of Delhi. In Delhi, we built good schools for children, made treatment free, and provided free electricity. In our government, 73 percent of Delhiites received free electricity. But as soon as the BJP came to power, they closed down government hospitals and Mohalla Clinics and are continuously closing down schools.

Arvind Kejriwal in Gujarat: Hardad movement will not go in vain says Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal said that when I left Delhi for Gujarat, many people called me and tried to stop me from going to Gujarat. They said that if I go to Gujarat, these people will file false cases against me. But I am not afraid of the BJP. Even if the BJP puts me in jail 100 times, I will still stand with the poor. As long as the people of Gujarat are subjected to atrocities, I will keep coming among you. This farmers’ movement will not go in vain. The farmers have made the people of the entire Gujarat stand up and united them. Now the whole of Gujarat will say in one voice, “BJP, leave Gujarat.”

Arvind Kejriwal said that liquor and drugs are being sold in every corner of Gujarat, but these people will not arrest those who make fake liquor and sell drugs. They will only arrest farmers and put them in jail. These people themselves facilitate the sale of liquor and drugs. All this money goes to their party. Those who sell liquor and drugs are their own people. Then why do you vote for them? These people wield batons against the poor, throw children in jail, and yet when it’s time to vote, we press the button for the lotus symbol (the BJP’s symbol).

Arvind Kejriwal in Gujarat: No difference between BJP and Congress

Arvind Kejriwal in Gujarat: No difference between BJP and Congress

Arvind Kejriwal said that people told him that until now they had no alternative in Gujarat. The BJP and Congress are the same. Two days ago, Gopal Italia was questioning the BJP’s policies at a meeting, and a Congress worker threw a shoe at him. The Congress was offended and hurt by the criticism of the BJP. Congress leaders from Delhi called to tell Gopal Italia to stop criticizing the BJP. Kejriwal said that now the people of Gujarat have a better option in the Aam Aadmi Party. The BJP and Congress are two sides of the same coin. Therefore, the public no longer needs to fear FIRs and jail.

Arvind Kejriwal said that he, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, Sanjay Singh, and Vijay Nair have spent many months and years in jail for the country. The ED raided his house, but found not a single penny. He and his party’s bank accounts don’t have a single rupee. Even after being the Chief Minister of Delhi for 10 years, he hasn’t earned a single rupee. They are fighting only for the country. This time, the BJP government is going to be ousted from Gujarat. Immediately after the Aam Aadmi Party forms the government, all FIRs will be cancelled. The BJP government ministers who sent farmers to jail will be made to grind grain in jail.

During this time, AAP’s Gujarat in-charge Gopal Rai said that often after a major movement, people become silent due to fear of the government, but today the revolution in Hardad has created a new sense of courage and freedom throughout Gujarat. For the last 30 years, the people of Gujarat were enduring oppression and suffering and were unable to speak up. A huge crowd gathered in Sudamda village. The echo of this revolution is now being heard throughout the state. Since this movement began, thousands of farmers have gathered in Sudamda, Jamnagar, Khambhalia, Somnath, Bardoli, Anand, and Banaskantha, and now a farmers’ grand assembly is scheduled to be held in Kutch on December 14th. This revolution has been sparked by the farmers’ struggle, and it will not stop now.

Gopal Rai further stated that previously, the village of Hardad was known only to the people in the surrounding areas and the villagers’ relatives. But today, because of the struggle of the farmers here, the entire country knows this village. The revolution that the farmers of Hardad have started in Gujarat will only be complete when it brings about change throughout Gujarat by 2027. We will not let the farmers’ sacrifices go in vain, and we will settle every score and bring about change in Gujarat.
