Air Taxi In Delhi NCR: Proposal for pilot corridor between Gurugram-Jewar Airport
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has released a report outlining a pilot corridor model for e-air taxis. The report proposes establishing a corridor connecting Gurugram, Connaught Place, and Jewar International Airport as the initial pilot project, with the potential to expand to other areas.
If the pilot proves successful in Delhi-NCR, the model could be implemented in other major cities across India, including Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
Delhi Air Taxi Service: A journey of hours will be completed in minutes
According to CII, the introduction of C-Air Taxis could ease urban infrastructure bottlenecks and drastically cut travel times. By reducing the number of vehicles on the roads, these air taxis could play a key role in managing city congestion.
The report highlights that a trip from Central Delhi to Gurugram could take less than 12 minutes, compared to 1–1.5 hours by road. Similarly, the journey from Connaught Place to Noida International Airport could be completed in under 20 minutes, while the same trip currently takes 2–3 hours by road.
Takeoff and landing from rooftops
According to the CII report, rooftop takeoffs and landings are considered a promising solution. The rooftops of commercial hubs, hospitals, tech parks, and residential towers can be used as vertiports. This will also strengthen multimodal connectivity and battery charging infrastructure.
Air Taxi Noida Gurgaon: How much will the Air Taxi fare be?
Air taxi services allow travelers to reach Gurugram from Connaught Place in just 7 minutes. The fare can range from 2,000 to 3,000 rupees. If you travel by road, the 27-kilometer journey between Connaught Place and Gurugram costs approximately 1,500 rupees, and takes 1.30 hours.
When will the Air Taxi service start?
Initially, the e-air taxi service will focus on critical tasks such as medical emergencies, organ transport, and medicine delivery. Once this phase is successfully implemented, it will expand to serve passengers from the general public.
According to reports, the project could begin trial operations between 2026 and 2028. If all goes according to plan, air taxis could emerge as a fast, reliable, and futuristic commuting option for Delhi-NCR residents in the coming years.
