The World Health Organization (WHO) has put forth 10 essential health tips for 2025, encouraging individuals to embrace a healthier lifestyle for improved well-being. Central to these recommendations is the adoption of a balanced diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and whole grains. This dietary approach is crucial for reducing the risk of malnutrition and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer.
Complementing dietary advice, the WHO strongly advises reducing salt intake to less than 5 grams per day and limiting sugar consumption to less than 5% of total energy intake. These measures are vital for preventing dental issues and maintaining a healthy weight. Furthermore, the organization emphasizes reducing harmful fats, suggesting that fats should constitute less than 30% of total energy intake, prioritizing unsaturated fats over saturated and trans-fats.
Prioritizing Physical Health and Safety
A significant recommendation from the WHO is the imperative to avoid smoking, directly linking tobacco use to NCDs and highlighting the profound benefits of quitting or never starting. Physical activity is also a cornerstone of their advice, recommending that adults aged 18-64 engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity weekly. Regular blood pressure monitoring is another critical tip, as uncontrolled hypertension, often termed a ‘silent killer,’ can lead to severe health complications.
Road safety is also addressed, with the WHO urging adherence to traffic laws, including the consistent use of seatbelts and helmets, avoiding drinking and driving, and refraining from mobile phone use while driving to prevent road traffic injuries.

The WHO also tackles the growing concern of antibiotic resistance, stressing that antibiotics should only be used as prescribed by a qualified health professional, and the full course of treatment must be completed. Maintaining proper hand hygiene, through washing with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand rub, is highlighted as a fundamental practice for preventing the spread of infectious diseases. Lastly, the organization recommends regular health check-ups as a proactive measure for early detection and diagnosis of health problems, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of treatment and improving recovery outcomes.
