Happy Children’s Day 2025: Bal Diwas is celebrated on 14 November to honour the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. This auspicious day symbolises with theme, ‘For Every Child, Every Right’ which reinforces India’s pledge to protect children’s welfare, health and education. Cultural programs and games are hosted across the country to celebrate student’s potential. A day to respect the innocence, joyfulness, and potential of children, along with showcasing respect to birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehra.

Theme for 2025, For Every Child, Every right, highlights the moto of protecting the rights of children and ensuring their proper growth and development in a healthy environment.

Children’s day is a celebration that acknowledges children as true architects for country’s future. It annually falls on 14 November and reminds society of their duty to protect innocence, happiness, education, and health of children.

Jawaharlal Nehru, is affectionately known as, “Chacha Nehru” due to his love for children. Nehru believed that education and happiness of children matters and are the basis for bringing up a strong and enlightened nation.

Jawaharlal Nehru, because of his love for children, is endearingly known as “Chacha Nehru.” he held the view that the education and happiness of children were the basis for bringing up a strong and enlightened nation.

He said, “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow, their upbringing will determine the future of country, he also established a Children’s Film Society of India with objective of nurturing children’s creativity and provide them with strong foundation. Chacha Nehru focused on his policies of eliminating child labour and ensure equal opportunities in education that still inspires child welfare today.

Initially, India also marked the Universal Children’s day celebration on 20 November, in accordance with recommendation of United Nation with respect to promote global awareness about children’s welfare. Whereas in 1957, the Indian government decided to celebrate Children’s Day on 14 November, aligning with birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Nehru ji believed that children are the strength of nation and needs proper education, guidance and care which will shape them for nation’s better future. Over time, the children’s day celebration grew into a significant event and started to be celebrated annually across school, and communities. This day is blend of entertainment with focus children’s welfare and development.
