Guru Tegh Bahadur Teachings: Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day is observed on November 24, According to the Nanakshahi calender, which is a solar calender devised by the Sikh tradition. This day commemorates the execution of Guru Tegh Bahadur in the year 1675. It was one of the symbolic struggle of humanity against subjugation. he stood up for the rights of others and his stands set a powerful precedent for interfaith harmony, tolerance and protection of human rights. His martyrdom further made ways to strengthen Sikh community and helped to make a formation of Khalsa-the distinct Sikh identity that was founded by his son, Guru Gobind Singh.

The ninth Sikh guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur who was born in 1621 and devoted his life for unwavering dedication to spiritual teachings and his defence of religious freedom. His whole life, he committed towards spiritual growth, courage and compassion. His selfless sacrifice and bravery earned him the title of Hind ki Chadar, which means, “The Protector of Hindus, as he stood against the religious persecution during the Mughal Empire.”

Guru Tegh Bahadur, also composed 116 hymns in 15 different musical measures, among which many were later included in the guru Granth sahib, central scripture of Sikhism. His hymns mentioned different themes such as attachment, service, dignity, sorrow, the mind and body, death and liberation, that offers deep spiritual contribution towards human condition.

In addition to the Spiritual contributions, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji played a important role in establishing Anandpur sahib, as a significant centre for spirituality and strength. He is also known for his efforts in protection of Kashmiri pandits, who were facing persecution under the Mughal Empire, which signifies his legacy as a champion of religious freedom and human rights.

1. Guru Tegh bahadur showed his disciples the path of divinity by teaching them to overcome the false feelings of greed, desire, ego and pain.

2. He also guided his followers towards the path of peace, and taught the world to find contentment in life, and recognize everything as Nanak’s doing. He also spread the idea of attaining Jiwan Mukti by making peace with every situation of life.

3. Guru Tegh Bahadur was a merciful saviour of the weak, and he also preached his disciples to protect the ones who need protection, even if it comes at the cost of their own life.

4. The Guru mentioned that true reason behind human suffering to his followers, teachings that it is during the times of despair and hardships that it is the time of despair and hardship which fleeting into the nature of worldly pleasures that becomes clear, and allowed one to truly appreciate more meaningful aspects of life.
