Stay cool in jeth: Yoga asanas to calm your mind
New Delhi, Apr 27 (IANS): The scorching month of Jeth is about to begin. The morning will be hot and the evening will not be pleasant. As the heat increases, it becomes necessary for us to pay attention to the cooling system of the body, take measures that make us feel cool and the hot weather does not spoil anything. Some yoga asanas can be the solution to your problem in the changing season cycle. In ancient yoga-based texts, there are many pranayama and asanas, but we talk about two such asanas which will maintain the coolness of the body and they are accurate for any age.
Balasana- It is believed to be related to the Ashtanga Yoga of the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, which practices the principle of Ishvara Pranidhan (surrender to God). Method of Balasana- Sit on your knees, keep the ankles apart. Then sit on the ankles with your toes touching each other. On an exhale, lean forward and rest your forehead on a mat or soft cushion. The hands can be stretched forward or placed alongside the body.
There are also two options for Balasana – in which the knees are joined. This asana keeps the mind calm and motivates the practitioner to introspect. On the other hand, do not sit with the knees together, this creates space in the stomach and chest and increases the flow of breath.
When we lean forward and lower our head, we signal the nervous system to relax. Helps to lower blood pressure and calm the mind. The wide-knee shift especially aids digestion. Often in the summer, we struggle with stomach discomfort, this asana helps in reducing it.
Ardha Matsyendrasana – This is part of the ancient tradition of hatha yoga. The Ministry of AYUSH has given accurate information about this asana in an Instagram post. According to which Ardha Matsyendrasana asana can be especially beneficial for senior citizens. This improves the condition of their adrenal gland. Also, this asana helps in relieving constipation, asthma, and digestive problems, the same that people are mostly upset with in the summer. It is also a good option for diabetics. It is extremely important to consult a yoga expert before performing this asana, so that advice can be given on how to do the asana correctly.
To do this, sit with your legs crossed on the yoga mat. Turn the torso to the left and touch the left knee with the right hand. Do not raise the body above the mat.
The important formula of yoga is not to do it in the afternoon. Do the asana at sunrise or sunset. Avoid afternoon sessions when the heat is at its peak and one important thing is to consult a skilled yoga instructor.
