Pritish Nandy, Renowned Filmmaker and Journalist, Dies at 73
Pritish Nandy, the filmmaker, poet, and writer, has died at the age of 73. Anupam Kher shared news of Nandy's death on social media, expressing his condolences through a post on X.
Nandi's close friends revealed that he passed away from a cardiac arrest. His cremation took place on the evening of January 8. Several filmmakers, such as Anupam Kher and Sudhir Mishra, have expressed their sorrow over the passing of Pritish Nandy.
Anupam Kher wrote, "Deeply deeply saddened and shocked to know about the demise of one of my dearest and closest friends #PritishNandy! Amazing poet, writer, filmmaker and a brave and unique editor/journalist! He was my support system and a great source of strength in my initial days in Mumbai. We shared lots of things in common."
He further wrote- " He was also one of the most fearless people I had come across. Always Larger than life. I learned so many things from him. Off-late we didn’t meet often. But there was a time when we were inseparable! I will never forget when he surprised me by putting me on the cover of Filmfare and more importantly #TheIllustratedWeelky. He was the true definition of यारों का यार! I will miss you and our times together my friend. Rest well."
During the 1990s, journalist Pritish Nandy hosted a talk show called 'The Pritish Nandy Show' on Doordarshan, where he conducted interviews with celebrities.
In the early 2000s, through his company Pritish Nandy Communications, he produced numerous films including 'Sur', 'Kaante', 'Jhankaar Beats', 'Chameli', 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi', and 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects'. Additionally, his company created the web series 'Four More Shots Please' and the anthology series 'Modern Love Mumbai'.
