Are Facial Wipes Safe? Experts Share Their Insights
Facial wipes have become a must-have in our daily bags. It is because they’re perfect for quick fixes, like cleaning up spills or removing makeup, and offer a handy solution in unexpected situations, making them a must-have item.
As per the reports, the wet wipes market in India is about Rs 744 crore and is expected to grow annually by 18.38 percent.
Facial wipes are commonly used due to their convenience. They are infused with a variety of ingredients meant to refresh and purify. While most wipes undergo dermatological testing, some of the chemicals in them may not be suitable for every skin type, especially for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.
Therefore, the experts have advised to evaluate the ingredients, effectiveness, and quality of facial wipes before use. While many brands are available, it's important to choose products that suit your skin type and avoid those with harsh chemicals or allergens that could cause harm. Checking the ingredient list on the packaging is essential.
Key Aspects To Evaluate Include:
-Choose wipes with hydrating ingredients like aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, or Vitamin C. Avoid alcohol and strong fragrances to prevent skin irritation, blackheads, and dust buildup.
-Consider the softness and strength of the tissue, ideally choosing wipes with positive reviews and good word-of-mouth feedback.
-Check for any additives, such as lotions or fragrances, that may cause skin sensitivity.
-Take into account the environmental impact of the product, including whether it is made from recycled materials or is biodegradable, to ensure a responsible purchase.
Experts also warned that facial wipes should never replace your regular skincare routine. They said that one can use essential oils, creams, or, ideally, a cleanser.
A cleanser is the best option, and for the best results, you can double cleanse—first using it to remove makeup and then again as a face wash. Relying solely on wipes is strongly discouraged.
It is recommended to save the face wipes for situations when your face is particularly dirty and water isn't accessible. However, if water is available, it's better to splash your face with it and gently pat it dry with a soft tissue.
