Mumbai Weather: A dense fog blanketed Mumbai on Monday morning, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 147, which falls under the 'moderate' category. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the AQI at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) was recorded at 153, while Abhinav Nagar in Borivali East saw an AQI of 176. At Shastri Garden Worli, managed by the BMC, the AQI reached 225, placing it in the "poor" category. In other areas, the AQI at Chembur near the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) stood at 158, while Sewri recorded a value of 195.

Dense Fog Engulfs Mumbai

SAFAR has stated that the air quality is "unusually sensitive" and advised people to avoid prolonged or intense physical exertion. It also recommended resting if symptoms like cough or shortness of breath appear. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality index (AQI) in Mumbai was 179 at 4:00 pm on Sunday. In Delhi, air quality worsened further on Monday morning, with a dense smog covering several areas. The AQI in the national capital reached a "severe plus" level, recorded at 483 at 7:00 am.

AQI Reaches 225 in Worli

Toxic foam was seen floating on the Yamuna River at Kalindi Kunj, causing residents to report difficulty breathing and eye irritation. The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) issued a notice stating that despite low visibility, flight operations remain normal, and passengers should contact their airlines for updated flight information. On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi announced the closure of physical classes for all students, except those in classes 10 and 12, following the implementation of GRAP-4 in Delhi-NCR on Monday. In a post on X, CM Atishi wrote that physical classes would be suspended for all students, with schools shifting to online classes until further notice. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai is scheduled to hold a meeting with department heads on Monday to ensure effective implementation of GRAP-4.
