The biggest question right now is: Is former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan alive or not? Rumors about his death are spreading so fast that many people don’t believe the government’s denials. People are asking: If he is alive, why isn’t he being allowed to meet his family or party members? Many believe that Army Chief Asim Munir wants to keep Imran out of the picture because Imran is the only one who can challenge his power. Imran Khan has been in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi for the last two and a half years after being convicted in corruption cases. Even though the court allowed his family to meet him, they still haven’t been given access. This has made people even more suspicious. On November 26th, a social media account called Afghanistan Times claimed that Imran Khan had been mysteriously killed in jail. The next day, Imran’s son Qasim Khan posted on X, saying that his father’s sisters were not allowed to meet him, and that he and his brother could not contact their father at all. He said there was no proof that Imran was alive and that the information blackout was suspicious. He also appealed to international organizations for help.
Adiala Jail officials claim that Imran is safe and healthy. But if that is true, people ask why his sisters—Nureen, Aleema, and Uzma were allegedly pushed or beaten by police when they tried to meet him. Not only the family, but even Imran’s lawyers and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi were reportedly denied access. This has strengthened fears that something serious might have happened. Many believe this strict treatment is happening under the orders of Army Chief Asim Munir. Imran and Munir have had a tense relationship for years. Imran remains extremely popular even after two and a half years in jail, and many Pakistanis still believe he is the leader who can fix the country. According to these claims, Imran’s tough stand against the United States increased his popularity, but it also created problems for him. When Munir was ISI chief, Imran reportedly suspected that he was working against him. Imran then removed Munir from the ISI post after only eight months, even though the usual term is three years.
When Imran Khan was ousted from power in 2022, Munir saw his opportunity. Through the courts, Imran was arrested and imprisoned on various charges. He was initially sentenced to two years in one case, and then to fourteen years in another. This meant that a foolproof system was put in place to ensure that Imran Khan would never be released from prison. Meanwhile, Asim has made himself so powerful that he has virtually become a new dictator. Despite being defeated by India during Operation Sindoor, he was appointed Field Marshal. Now, by amending the Constitution, he has appointed himself Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces for five years, meaning the Navy and Air Force also came under his control. Munir also has control over nuclear weapons.
Munir has made another move. He has reduced the authority of the Supreme Court to civil and criminal matters only. A Federal Constitutional Court has been established for constitutional matters, with appointments to which will be based on Munir’s discretion. Two judges have resigned in protest, but what difference does that make to Munir? The judicial system has now become such that Munir will do whatever he wants. It’s almost certain that Munir will not let Imran Khan out of jail alive. Killing politicians has been the nature of the Pakistani Army and ISI. Munir is also on the same path. We can only pray for Imran Khan.
Before we go…!
A report by the US Congress states that the Pahalgam terrorist attack was not a terrorist attack but an insurgent attack! Such a report should make our blood boil, and we should look America straight in the eye and say, “Stop this nonsense!” This terrorism, both good and bad, has destroyed the world. We can’t tolerate it anymore.
