For the past 22 years, we have been performing the chanting of the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra together with the renowned bhajan singer Shankar Sahni. The Mahamrityunjaya chant is not just a mantra, but a spiritual शक्ति (power). It brings peace, protection, and positivity into everyone’s life. Especially for senior citizens, it serves as a true support. All members eagerly wait for this day throughout the year.

The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, dedicated to Lord Shiva, teaches us to maintain patience, faith, and positivity—no matter how difficult life may become.

Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat॥

Ashwini Ji used to explain the meaning of this mantra himself: “O Lord Shiva, just as a ripe fruit naturally separates from the tree, in the same way, please मुक्त (liberate) us from suffering, illness, and fear, and grant us a healthy and peaceful life.”

We perform this for the good health of all members of our senior citizens’ club and for the welfare of the entire world. All our members are at a stage in life where they have great experience, but sometimes also face चिंता (worry), loneliness, or health issues. In such times, the Mahamrityunjaya chant becomes a great support for us. It brings peace to our minds, strengthens us from within, reduces fear and anxiety, and brings us closer to God.

We also perform it for those members who are bedridden and unable to attend; we arrange a live broadcast for them as well.

I request all members to register their names with their respective branch heads. If someone is not a member but is 60+ and wishes to attend, they must register their name through our helpline along with their Aadhaar card and phone number. This is very important. Members should wear their membership cards when attending.

Please take your medicines before coming. Your health is your own responsibility—take proper care before arriving. If you feel any issue such as rising sugar or blood pressure, the Meradoc (doctors) team will be there to assist you. You can immediately inform them. Renowned doctors like Dr. Jhingan, Dr. Bhagra, and Yash Bhagra will also be present, as they are every year.

Since the weather is very hot, keep drinking water. Your phones should be on silent mode. No one will talk during the chanting. You will chant the mantra together; if you find it difficult, then listen carefully. Everyone must maintain discipline. My attention and that of your branch heads will be on all of you. If anyone is found violating discipline, their membership may be canceled.

Bringing small children is not allowed. While leaving, everyone should stand in line and receive prasad in an orderly manner.

I hope that this time as well, like always, everyone will experience a heavenly feeling while chanting. It will be a divine experience for all. Everyone will pray for each other’s well-being and pay heartfelt tribute to the founder of Punjab Kesari, the martyr Lala Jagat Narayan, along with Ramesh Chandra and Ashwini Kumar with love and श्रद्धा (respect).
