India, China, and US: A Shifting Balance of Power in Asia
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in China after visiting Japan. Our relationship with Japan has consistently been strong, encompassing both economic and cultural aspects. Although we have surpassed Japan economically to become the third largest power, Japan's technical prowess remains impressive. The Prime Minister's visit to China after seven years is drawing global attention to the actions of these superpowers. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Trump has canceled his planned visit to India. Despite his remarks about India being a stagnant economy, the Indian GDP continues to grow at a rate of 7.5%. Trump might be frustrated, but I believe that with the right efforts, the relationship between the two countries can be restored.
Amidst all this turmoil, one news has caught everyone's attention. China has invited the dreaded dictator of North Korea as the chief guest for the military parade to be held on September 3 in Beijing. Putin will also be present in that military parade. The question is why has China invited the dictator of North Korea this year? Before this, in 1959, Kim Jong Un's grandfather Kim Sung had participated in the Chinese parade. Since then, China has never invited any leader from there. So what happened this time that there was a sudden outpouring of love for Kim Jong Un? We all know that North Korea has two biggest supporters. One is Russia and the other is China, it plays in the lap of both. But both the countries know that it is the world's rowdy hooligan and can be used as an effective weapon against America.
Kim Jong Un knows that if these two neighbors ever turn their noses up, it will be difficult. That is why he sends his soldiers to fight on behalf of Russia and also supplies workers to Russia and China as per the need. Workers and soldiers get only a little money and most of it goes to Kim Jong. There has always been a 36 figure between America and North Korea because after Korea was divided into two parts, South Korea remained under the shadow of America while North Korea came under the control of the dictator under the shadow of Russia. America tried a lot but Kim Jong Un finally made a nuclear bomb and he claims that New York, Washington and all other American cities are under his control. You will remember that Donald Trump also met Kim Jong Un in 2019. China played a big role behind the scenes in that meeting. The dictator did not listen to even a single word of Trump and Trump's dream of becoming a peace envoy remained unfulfilled. Trump wants to meet the dictator once again, recently he expressed this desire during his meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. He also wants to meet Xi Jinping later this year. This desire of Trump probably inspired China to call Kim Jong Un and send a message to America that this world's goon is ours. The intention behind this move of China is to threaten America. If Putin will also be present in the Beijing military parade, then America will be even more jealous. You will remember that Kim visited Beijing in 2018 just before meeting Trump in 2019. Therefore, there is no harm in believing that America will clearly get the message that China will keep a noose around Trump and Kim. When there will be a talk of Xi Jinping with Trump, then Xi Jinping will definitely be more influential.
Consider the fact that China's significant move has become a boon for the dictator, as nearly the entire world has isolated North Korea. In this context, Kim's participation in the military parade, attended by leaders from over 20 countries including Pakistan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Iran, Laos, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Maldives, Belarus, Turkmenistan, and Armenia, will undoubtedly lend legitimacy to his regime. However, this should come as no surprise, as one dictator often supports another. Yet, this dictator, Kim Jong Un, might be more perilous than Idi Amin and Hitler. His rule is marked by extreme cruelty. Although news rarely escapes from there, the accounts of those who have managed to flee to South Korea are chilling. Only those loyal to Kim are permitted to reside in the capital, Pyongyang, while other North Korean citizens are barred from entering. The villages suffer from severe poverty, and if someone makes a mistake, their family for three generations could end up in prison.
There people cannot wear clothes of their choice, they cannot even keep their hairstyle. No insolence is forgiven. When their defense chief dozed off in a meeting, he was shot dead. Kim killed his brother Kim Jong Nam by applying poison on his face at Malaysia airport. Strengthening such a dictator means legitimizing oppression in North Korea, but what can be done, Trump has created such circumstances that such forces will unite. What do they have to do with the life of the common man. We are lucky that we live in such an India where freedom exists, our Hindustan is the best in the world.
