Trump’s Love-Hate Relationship With India
The pressing issue currently is why Donald Trump, once a close ally of India and still referring to India as a friend, has become so upset with the country that he imposed significant tariffs and aligned himself with Pakistan, seemingly distancing himself from India. It's crucial to uncover the reason behind this shift. While I don't advocate for submission to America, our diplomatic relations are facing a substantial challenge. India needs to discern Trump's true intentions. We were unaware that he halted India's conflict with Pakistan, but he was aware. India ignored his remarks, yet it didn't affect him. Interestingly, Pakistanis were unaware of their substantial petroleum reserves capable of supplying oil to India until Trump revealed this information on his social media account.
He even said that perhaps Pakistan will sell oil to India someday. Pakistanis who are struggling with the shortage of petrol and diesel, whose oil production has decreased by 11 percent in the recent past, if they are shown Mungerilal's beautiful dream that they will become oil sellers like the Arab countries, what will happen? Will that country go crazy or not? Now those who are a little educated or who are aware of the research going on about petroleum reserves, they know what the situation is. India has a certified reserve of crude oil around 5600 lakh barrels whereas Pakistan's reserve is only around 236 lakh barrels. The available data shows that in February 2025, India produced 6 lakh barrels of oil per day whereas in Pakistan this quantity was only 68 thousand barrels in the same month. Yes, it has been said from time to time that Pakistan may have large reserves of oil. In 2015, the US Energy Information Administration had said without any research, only on the basis of analysis, that Pakistan may have about 9 billion barrels of oil reserves. Surprisingly, India’s figure was estimated at only 3.8 billion barrels.
During that period, questions were raised about America's motives, but there wasn't much uproar since nothing was confirmed. The real issue is what message is being conveyed. Trump seems to be attempting to intimidate India, claiming that American companies will handle oil extraction in Pakistan, making it wealthy. Is this a tactic to frighten a nation? Did Trump think he could threaten to sell milk from cows fed a meat diet to keep them healthy? He misunderstands India's culture. Regardless of the ruling party, Trump's aspirations will never be realized here. We don't consume tainted milk, which is why our government won't yield. There's a significant cultural difference, sir! So, don't attempt to intimidate. Whose economy is struggling? Those labeling India's economy as dead should examine the data.
India's economy has grown by 105 percent in the last ten years. The International Monetary Fund has predicted that the Indian economy will grow at a rate of 6.4 percent in both 2025 and 2026, while the US economy is expected to grow at a mere 1.9 percent in 2025 and 2 percent in 2026. Also know that the International Monetary Fund has predicted the global economic growth rate to be around 3 percent. These figures show the pace of India in terms of economy. If there was no pace, would India have become the fourth largest economy of the world just like that? Soon we are going to become the third largest economy as well. Trump's real worry is that China is already challenging and if in future India also comes in a position to challenge, then the Almighty will be in a lot of trouble. That is why he is limping. Remember limping! That childhood game in which a naughty child tries to make the running child fall by entangling his leg in the race, but we are not going to fall.
But the situations have to be handled delicately. America is a power in the world and if it openly stands with Pakistan, it will be a cause of trouble for us because China is also with Pakistan. Yes, it is good that Russia is still with us. Attempts are being made to cast an evil eye on this friendship. We have to be careful about this. The circumstances are difficult but there is a lot of strength within India. We know how to deal with such situations, that is why we are on the path of progress today. For progress, it is important that we have more friends and fewer enemies. What can be a better way for friendship than dialogue?
