Operation Sindoor and Valour of Army

Published on:

Today the whole country is talking about vermilion. In fact, it is more about the symbolic significance of sindoor in Indian culture than the military action against Pakistan 'Operation Sindoor'. In Hinduism, sindoor is a symbol of a married woman. It is put in demand by women and erased when they are widowed. On April 22, several women in Pahalgam became widows. The terrorists targeted the men and left the women and children. Basically, the vermilion of many has been erased.

The viral video of Himanshi Narwal, who went on a honeymoon, became a symbol of this tragedy. In the horrific terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley, a few kilometers from Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, the image of Himanshi standing near the corpse of her husband shocked everyone. Apart from highlighting the tragedy, the naming of the operation also symbolises the resolve to avenge the dead and punish the guilty. In this case, no particular person was targeted but India's neighboring country Pakistan.

So when Prime Minister Narendra Modi named India's retaliation against Pakistan as 'Operation Sindoor', it proved to be a great strategic move. Even his staunchest critics could not object to the naming, as it resonated with right-thinking Indians across the country.

If reports are to be believed, the name was chosen by the Prime Minister himself. This was symbolic and significant, as husbands were murdered in front of their wives. The shattered image of the sindoor released by the Army sent a clear message, India is avenging the loss of women who suffered this pain. It was also a tribute to the widows of the victims of the Pahalgam attack. Originally, this nomenclature demonstrated the resolve to retaliate on a far greater scale than tragedy, grief, and attack. India did well in this regard, even though hundreds of thousands of people suspected that the government was too quick to give in to the call for a ceasefire. Apart from this, the selection of two women officers also touched the hearts of the people. Indian Army Colonel Sophia Qureshi and helicopter pilot Wing Commander Vyomika Singh attended the press briefing along with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

Once again, the message was more effective than the description: the two women, one of whom was Muslim, was a sign that Hindus and Muslims stand together and fight when it comes to India. It is significant that the victims in the Pahalgam terror attack were Hindus, in fact they were targeted only after identifying their religion.

Women wearing red sarees and caps bearing the mark of 'Operation Sindoor' welcomed PM Modi during his roadshow in Gujarat. In West Bengal, Mr Modi linked the operation to 'sindoor khela', a ritual of women applying sindoor to each other at the end of the ten-day-long Durga Puja. Speaking in Bihar, Modi said he had fulfilled his promise to avenge the terror attack, adding, "Pakistan and the world have seen the power of the vermilion of Indian daughters. "Those who are doing politics will get the answer in time about sindoor, but Operation Sindoor is the might of our army, it is an irrefutable truth.
