Crowd and Stampede, Whom to hold responsible?

Published on:

It is common for any event to be crowded. Four days ago, we saw that the RCB team, which had been dreaming of winning the IPL for the last 18 years, won the trophy. Naturally, it was a joyous occasion for RCB fans. Now it was also necessary to celebrate. This team is associated with the city of Bengaluru in Karnataka, the safest state of South India. There was a victory parade in the city before the celebration ceremony of RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium there, but according to agency reports, more than three lakh people gathered around the stadium, there was a stampede and 11 sports fans lost their lives. It's very sad, but it leaves a lot of questions. Why only empty cricket? There is also an event like football or rugby or other sports where sports fans abroad celebrate in support of their team and even resort to violence. Overall, the passion and celebration for the game is crossing its limits. I also talk about many other social gatherings, rallies or religious events where millions of people often gather and there is a stampede when they are uncontrollable to see their loved ones. The result turns out to be deaths as usual. This should not be all.

Whether it is a social event or a celebratory function, we have learnt to mobilise the crowd. Those for whom the crowd gathers are stars, but we have not learned to control the crowd. Talking about Bengaluru, the state government has suspended the police commissioner and some senior officers there. An FIR has also been filed against champion RCB. Is that enough? Who will take away the pain of the families whose 11 members died in the stampede?

The question is what is the administrative role in these cases, in every case, when strict action is taken against anyone, it should be considered a good initiative. However, RCB has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of those killed in the stampede. This may be an example of humanity but the grief of those who died here cannot be compensated. The important thing here is that if we look into the history of stampede, we sometimes saw this obsession in the cities of England in football fields, where during football matches, big names including Liverpool and Manchester clubs or supporters of other football clubs used to flock to the stadiums so much that there was a stampede or violent incidents about defeat and victory. This passion for the game, this craze is now growing very fast in India as well. We are fortunate that we have not had such violent incidents, but where there is a place of 40-50 thousand, there should not be even three or four lakh people. After all, there is order and responsibility. Be it the Karnataka government or any other administration, you have to make proper arrangements.

Whether it is the Kumbh Mela or other religious events in our country, wherever it is, the crowd still gathers and often the news of stampede makes headlines. Overall, this trend needs to be stopped. From the point of view of security, one should avoid going to such occasions because in today's era, all the facilities are available on TV, but people can not stop their love, their passion, their passion towards religious, social or political or sports events. In this case, parents should protect their children from going to the crowd. The entire IPL has been run in the scorching heat, although hot weather tournaments used to run in the country. There are more events going on in the summer. Crowds of people thronged the stadiums throughout the IPL. If crowd is the measure of success, then safety is also very important. A lesson should be taken from this incident and arrangements should be made to ensure that the crowd does not become uncontrollable in any social and political event other than the sports event in the future, because it is good if the flood of emotions is under control. RCB's victory in this IPL may set a record, but if the celebration becomes deadly, then we do not want this shameful record. May God give place to the souls of the dead at his feet and give strength to the families of the dead to bear this grief and at the same time it should be expected that proper arrangements should be ensured that such incidents do not happen in the future.
