Congress Party is Unequivocal on Tharoor

Published on:

I do not understand why the government understands the importance of an enlightened leader and eloquent speaker like Shashi Tharoor, but why the Congress does not understand it? Do the Congressmen have any idea how much damage they are doing to the party? I have known Shashi Tharoor closely over the years and there is no hesitation in saying that Shashi Tharoor is a brilliant contemporary analyst and a man of deep insight. The Congress should make them sit on their heads, but the Congressmen, who have become the eyes, nose and ears of the high command, are constantly despising them. The latest case is that of all-party delegations formed by the Government of India to apprise 33 countries of the world about the situation against Operation Sindoor. Seven all-party delegations have been constituted by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Its purpose is to expose Pakistan's activities with strong evidence in front of India's partner nations, including member countries of the United Nations Security Council.

New Delhi: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday urged Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to seek the names of four MPs from the Congress for delegations sent abroad to clarify India's stand on Pakistani terrorism. The Congress has sent the names of Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi, Dr Syed Naseer Hussain and Raja Brar. The government brushed aside the names of Gogoi, Naseer and Brar. Only Anand Sharma was taken from the Congress list. Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor, Manish Tewari, Salman Khurshid and Amar Singh were part of the delegation. Tharoor was assigned the leadership of the team going to the US. There was no ruckus on the rest of the names, but there was a lot of uneasiness on the name of Tharoor.

The Congress said that Shashi Tharoor's name was not given by the party. In general terms, the government has certainly ignored the Congress, but the question is, why was his name not given? Have we forgotten how Tharoor washed Britain at the Oxford Union on May 28, 2015 and asked Britain to give a token compensation to its colonized countries? He has a great grip on foreign affairs. In fact, the Congress has ignored them. This is not the first time that Tharoor has been defied. When he was made a Minister of State, everyone believed that he was worthy of a Cabinet Minister. "I am honoured by the Government of India's invitation to present my country's view on a recent incident, and when it comes to national interest and my services are required, I will never back down," Tharoor said in a social media post. "I remember an incident of my own.

At the time of the Kargil war, the Congress and its allies had decided that no questions would be asked to the then Defense Minister George Fernandes. My question was scheduled in the list. When I got up to ask questions, I was pointed out by first Manmohan Singh and then Pranab Mukherjee that the party had decided not to question. But I asked the question that despite the bulletproof jackets, why are our soldiers dying due to bullets? I also raised questions about the quality of the coffin because at that time the country needed answers to both these questions. Shashi Tharoor has taken the right decision. The government has also carefully selected the members of the delegations, which include 51 MPs, former ministers and eight former diplomats. These are the people who have immense capacity to present India's case very well. The delegation's visits have already begun. Of the 33 countries, 15 are permanent or non-permanent members of the UN Security Council. Five countries are soon to become members, the others are those whose voice matters on the global stage.

Meanwhile, the three questions that Rahul Gandhi has asked to External Affairs Minister Jaishankar are also being discussed a lot. The first question is about America, why did it try to weigh India and Pakistan on the same scale? Second, who asked Trump to mediate and why did no country openly stand with India? Has foreign policy collapsed? I think these questions are important because the best efforts that Modi ji has made for friendship with many countries of the world, the relations that have improved between many countries and India, it was natural to expect those countries to stand with us. I am hopeful that the diplomacy that has been initiated through delegations will present India's point of view to the world in a more comprehensive manner and expose Pakistan in a better way. The Congress should be proud that it has a unique diamond like MP Tharoor, who has been entrusted by the Government of India with the responsibility of an important country like America.
