Not a Span of Life but Indeed Quality of Life

Published on:

I turned 75, arithmetic to call it a measure of age, which my family, my friends and wholehearted admirers named Amrit Mahotsav. I have received a lot of messages, I am filled with a beautiful and divine malady of good wishes. Words are not enough to thank you, I can only say that I bow down to your love. Looking back at the time and assessing, it seems that the string of loving relationships that I started tying when I was young has come to fruition to a great extent today. Found a life that smelled of this soil.

This fragrance came because of my Babuji, senior freedom fighter Shri Jawaharlal Darda and Bai (mother) Smt. Veena Devi Darda, saw so many dimensions of life, walked many paths and got an opportunity to roam in the vast world of emotions. He tried his hand at the world of sports, along with creating in the world of newspapers, he also did politics for the common man. He served an 18-year parliamentary term. I got an opportunity to understand the country very closely. Sometimes poetry was born from my mind, sometimes I walked on the canvas as if the emotion was shaking and my companion Jyotsna brought me to the spiritual world of music.

You wonder why I am sharing these things of my personal life with you? I am sharing this because very few people have to deal with so many dimensions of life. Some may be of use to you, one learns from each other. In these 75 years, there have been at least 55 years of work. It's not about the length of life, it's about quality. I had read a couplet of Kabirdas in my childhood...

What happened when it grew, like a palm tree?

There is no shade to the tree, the fruit will be far away

This means that the palm tree is tall but it cannot give shade to the passers-by and its fruits are so high that they cannot be plucked easily, in the same way what happens if you grow up? Your success is only when society benefits from it. I don't know at what point in my life I accepted these lines of Kabir as my motto. It is possible that this stemmed from Babuji's workmanship. He dedicated his entire life to society. My life is on the same path, I have always considered personal success as spiritual for society. I would like to say to my younger generation that time has decided the scale of my age, but even today my childhood is as safe as I used to be in childhood, when childhood is alive, purity will also be alive and active.

Have you ever seen a child sitting quietly? He is always active and looking to learn something. You young people are in a world of technology where the urge to learn is to be closed. The urge to learn has to be maintained for success. I find it inspiring to see in the Bhagavad Gita that the purpose of life lies not in the success or failure of one's actions, but in the performance of one's duty with a sense of purpose and selflessness. Lord Krishna advises Arjuna in the Gita to act without being influenced by the desire for personal gain or fear of loss. I have followed this religion all my life so far, my colleagues sometimes say that I set big goals.

It's because nothing is impossible. If you don't, the other will. So why don't we? This spirit of dedication and curiosity is also the basis of science. Yes, you have to bring skills within yourself otherwise how will the dream be fulfilled? Babuji dreamt of giving a big shape to public opinion and my younger brother Rajendra and I resolved to make that dream come true, so the results are in front of you today. Devendra, Rishi and Karan's resolve will make the Lokmat family bigger. Purva will always be the strength of her brothers. Keep in mind that without the blessings of parents, the unfathomable love of brother and sister, the dedication of your wife, and the love of children, you cannot wish for success. There is nothing bigger than family, you may find my words strange but never neglect your wife or else your life will not be a real life.

Always remember the sacrifice, dedication and love of your wife who has created your family and has filled your life with happy colors. Only those who have a family full of love spend the century of life. I would like to say to our younger generation that the future is not to be feared, but to make this beautiful world a better place. If you are afraid, you weaken your skills and strength. When you get angry, confusion arises, a confused person deviates from his path. So control your anger, stay away from ego and identify yourself. Nature has created a whole world within you. Your dedicated work, full of knowledge, can change your destiny. The meaning of life is not in its length but in its quality, the good wishes of all of you have inspired me to work more qualitatively. Thank you all once again, I want to say one more thing that put the tricolor on your chest and wear the tricolor band on the wrist. If you can't find it anywhere and you want to wear it every day, write me a letter.
