Stock Market Today March 11: The Indian stock market continues to experience significant volatility. After a few days of turmoil, the market opened flat today. The BSE Sensex opened marginally higher by 33 points, or 0.04 percent, at 78,238, while the Nifty opened lower by 30 points, or 0.12 percent, at 24,231. At the time of writing, the stock market had reached the red, with the Sensex falling 231 points to 77,962. The Nifty also declined by 71 points. Defence stocks are seeing a surge amid the war.

Defence stocks were leading the market in early trade. Nifty India Defence was the top gainer, rising nearly 1 percent. Media, metal, pharma, PSE, energy, oil and gas, commodities, and healthcare were also in the green. On the other hand, private bank, financial, auto, and services indices were trading under pressure.

Along with largecaps, midcaps and smallcaps are also seeing strength. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was up 377 points, or 0.66 percent, at 57,555, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was up 173 points, or 1.05 percent, at 16,647.

In the Sensex pack, Indigo, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma, NTPC, BEL, Power Grid, HCL Tech, Asian Paints, Eternal, ITC, Titan, and Trent were among the gainers. Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, HUL, Bharti Airtel, M&M, UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Finserv, and M&M were among the losers.

Asian Market Today: Asian Markets Rise

Most Asian markets are seeing gains. Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seoul, and Jakarta opened in the green. However, US markets closed mixed on Tuesday. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued their selling spree, selling ₹4,672.64 crore on Tuesday. Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) invested ₹6,333.26 crore in equities.
