Stock Market Today March 03: Amidst tensions in the Middle East, the Indian stock market is in turmoil. The Indian stock market is closed due to the Holi festival holiday. Trading will be halted on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) will also be closed early in the day. However, trading on the MCX will resume from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. today.

Selling pressure was mounting on major indices in other Asian markets today. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 1.71 percent to 57,065, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 0.24 percent to 25,985. However, Singapore’s Straits Times index rose 0.94 percent. Taiwan’s weighted index fell 0.36 percent to 34,967, and South Korea’s Kospi index fell 2.42 percent.

On Monday, the Sensex fell 1,048 points, or 1.29 percent, to close at 80,238, and the Nifty fell 312 points, or 1.24 percent, to close at 24,865, amid investor concerns over tensions in West Asia. The Nifty Midcap 100 fell 1.58 percent, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 fell 1.75 percent.
