After a period of turmoil, the Indian stock market recovered yesterday, but today, on the occasion of Basant Panchami, market plummeted again as soon as it opened. At 9:18 AM, BSE Sensex was trading at 82,202.63, down 104.74 points or 0.13 percent. NSE Nifty 50 was at 25,255.40, down 34.50 points or 0.14 percent. The performance of the broader market indices was in line with the benchmark indices, with the Nifty Mid-cap 100 rising by 0.32 percent and the Nifty Small-cap 100 gaining 0.24 percent.

All sectoral indices, except Nifty Media, PSU Bank, Realty, and Oil & Gas, were trading in the green. The Nifty Metal index gained over 0.9 percent, while the Nifty Media index witnessed a notable decline of 0.74 percent. According to market analysts, immediate support for the Nifty is seen in the 25,100-25,150 range, while significant support is observed in the 25,400-25,450 range.

Asian markets saw gains in the morning session, following a rally on Wall Street as geopolitical concerns eased. The Bank of Japan’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged boosted investor confidence. Analysts say that FIIs’ (Foreign Institutional Investors) stance on India depends on the growth in Indian corporate earnings, as they may invest in other markets with cheaper valuations and better earnings prospects.

The S&P 500 rose 0.55 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.63 percent.
