Indian stock market opens flat, Nifty at 25,762, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints and ITC among top losers

Stock Market Today December 11: Amid mixed global cues, the Indian stock market opened flat on Thursday. At 9:18 AM, Sensex was down a marginal 12 points at 84,379, and Nifty was down 2 points at 25,762. In early trading, IT, auto, public sector banks, and metal stocks were driving the market higher.

The pharma, FMCG, realty, media, energy, and infrastructure sectors were trading in the red. Trading was mixed across large-cap, mid-cap, and small-cap stocks. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was up 89 points or 0.15 percent at 59,097, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was down 35.15 points or 0.21 percent at 17,055.

In the Sensex pack, Infosys, Tata Steel, Eicher Motors, Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra, TCS, SBI, BEL, L&T, HDFC Bank, Trent, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the gainers. Titan, Power Grid, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Bajaj Finance, ITC, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Asian Paints, and Sun Pharma were the losers.

Global markets were trading mixed. Tokyo, Shanghai, Bangkok, and Seoul were in the red, while Hong Kong was in the green. US stock markets closed higher following an interest rate cut by the US Federal Reserve.

Vikram Kasat of PL Capital said that the US stock market closed in positive territory after the Federal Reserve cut interest rates. He also added that 25,750 to 25,800 is a crucial support zone for the Nifty.

Crude oil is showing weakness, although it is marginal. Brent crude was down 0.06 percent at $62.17 per barrel, and WTI was down 0.03 percent at $58.43 per barrel. On the other hand, precious metals continue their upward trend. Gold on COMEX rose 0.42 percent to $4,242 per ounce, and silver increased by 2.32 percent to $62.43 per ounce.
