Stock Market Today 27 Feb: Amid mixed signals from global markets, the Indian stock market opened in the red on Friday, the last trading day of the week, and began trading on a slow note. At the time of writing, the BSE Sensex was trading down nearly 500 points at 81,700. The NSE Nifty opened down nearly 40 points at 25,459.85 but fell 170 points to 25,326.50 at the time of writing. Meanwhile, all Nifty indices, except Nifty IT, were trading in the red.

In broader markets, the Nifty Midcap 100 index fell 0.41 percent, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index fell 0.51 percent. Sectorally, only the Nifty IT index saw a rise of 0.81 percent, while Nifty Auto fell by 0.84 percent, Nifty FMCG by 0.99 percent and Nifty Bank by 0.53 percent.
Top Gainers and Losers Shares

Among the 30 Sensex stocks, IT stocks saw buying for the third consecutive trading session, with Infosys, Trent, Tech Mahindra, Eternal, HCL Technologies, and TCS among the top gainers. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki, HUL, UltraTech Cement, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, ITC, Asian Paints, and Kotak Bank were among the biggest losers.
Expert on Stock Market

The expert further explained that when it comes to institutional investors, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers on February 26, selling shares worth ₹3,465 crore. Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) remained net buyers for the third consecutive session, purchasing shares worth over ₹5,000 crore. During a market downturn, it’s best to focus on stocks with strong fundamentals.
