Stock Market Today 24 February: The stock market is in turmoil today. The Indian stock market opened in the red on the second trading day of the week, following weak signals from the US market. The Sensex initially fell 242 points to 83,053 and fell nearly 500 points to reach a day’s low of 82,725.30. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty fell 71 points to 25,641.80. At the time of writing this news, at around 10:41 am, the Sensex had fallen 800 points, and the Nifty had also fallen 210 points.

In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 index fell 0.72 percent, while Nifty Smallcap 100 index declined 0.88 percent. The BSE Midcap 150 index declined 0.5 percent, and Smallcap 250 index declined 0.6 percent. Nifty IT fell the most, falling 3.34 percent. Nifty Auto fell 0.54 percent, Nifty FMCG fell 0.48 percent, and Nifty Bank fell 0.12 percent.

Of the 30 Sensex pack, 25 declined, with HCL Tech, Eternal, Infosys, TCS, Bharti Airtel, and Tech Mahindra among the top losers, while SBI, Asian Paints, Axis Bank, PowerGrid, Tata Steel, and Kotak Bank saw gains.

It would be best to focus on stocks with strong fundamentals during market downturns. Aggressive buying is advised at current levels. Analysts say immediate support for the Nifty lies in the 25,600-25,500 range, while resistance remains at the 25,800 level.

In Asian markets, China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange rose 1.17 percent, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange rose 1.82 percent, Japan’s Nikkei Index rose 0.92 percent, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 2.02 percent. South Korea’s Kospi Index rose 1.58 percent. US markets witnessed sharp declines overnight, with the Nasdaq falling 1.13 percent, the S&P 500 falling 1.04 percent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 1.66 percent.
