Stock Market Today 23 February: The Indian stock market opened with a huge jump in the trading session. At 9:33 am, Sensex was at 83,401 with a gain of 566 points or 0.68 percent and the Nifty was at 25,754 with a gain of 183 points. Financial sector stocks were driving the rally in the early trade. Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Financial Services were the top gainers among the indices. Also, Nifty Auto, Nifty Metal, Nifty Services, Nifty Consumption, Nifty Realty and Nifty FMCG were in the green. Only Nifty IT and Nifty Media were in the red.

Adani Ports, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, M&M, HUL, ICICI Bank, Power Grid, Titan, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Steel, UltraTech Cement, ITC, Asian Paints, Eternal, and Sun Pharma were among the gainers in the Sensex pack. Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, TCS, NTPC, and Indigo were among the losers.

Smallcaps are also seeing strong gains, outpacing largecaps. The Nifty Smallcap 100 index was up 138 points, or 0.81 percent, at 17,140. Meanwhile, the Nifty Midcap 100 index remained flat.
Asian Market Today
Asian markets are also seeing strength. Hong Kong, Jakarta, Bangkok and Seoul were in the green. US stock markets also closed in the green on Friday. In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei fell 1.12 percent, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 2.22 percent. South Korea’s Kospi closed with a gain of 0.36 percent. US markets closed mostly lower in the last trading session, with Nasdaq falling 0.16 percent. S&P 500 remained unchanged and Dow Jones fell 0.13 percent.
