Stock Market Today 19 May: After rising tensions between the US and Iran, former US President Donald Trump stated, following appeals from Gulf countries, that war has been avoided. After this development, the Indian stock market opened in the green with strong gains today. At 9:18 AM, the Sensex was up by 347 points, a gain of 0.46%, at 75,664, while the Nifty was up by 86 points, a gain of 0.36%, at 23,736. At the time of writing, the Sensex had surged by 350 points, and the Nifty had also risen by more than 100 points.

Top Gainers Shares: Strong Rally in the Market Today

The market witnessed a broad-based rally today. IT stocks were trading with gains, and the Nifty IT index was the top gainer with a rise of 3%.

Meanwhile, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Services, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Oil & Gas, Nifty Media, Nifty India Defence, Nifty Healthcare, Nifty Pharma, Nifty Consumer Durables, Nifty Infra, Nifty Energy, and Nifty India Manufacturing were also in the green zone.

On the other hand, Nifty Metal, Nifty Private Bank, and Nifty Financial Services were in the red zone.

Midcap and Smallcap Today: Strength in Midcaps

  • Nifty Midcap 100 index rose by 360 points (0.60%) to 60,833
  • Nifty Smallcap 100 index rose by 91 points (0.52%) to 17,747

Sensex Pack Stocks

Infosys, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Trent, HUL, Asian Paints, IndiGo, Bajaj Finance, ITC, M&M, Adani Ports, L&T, Maruti Suzuki, BEL, SBI, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, NTPC, Tata Steel, and Bharti Airtel were among the gainers.

Titan, Kotak Mahindra, UltraTech Cement, Eternal, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank were among the losers.

Asian Market Today

Global markets also showed mixed trends. Tokyo, Bangkok, Seoul, and Jakarta were in the red.

However, Shanghai was trading in the green. The US stock market saw the Dow Jones close in positive territory, while the Nasdaq closed in the red.
