Stock Market Today 18 Feb: The Indian stock market has been fluctuating for a few days. Today too the market started flat. At 9:20 am, Sensex was at 83,458 with a slight increase and Nifty was at 25,724 with a gain of one point. At the time of writing this news at 10.30 am, Sensex has registered a decline of 0.19 percent and Nifty has registered a decline of 0.17 percent. On the other hand, Nifty IT, Nifty Energy and Nifty Services were in the red.

Metal stocks were handling the market in the early trade. Nifty Metal was the top gainer among the indices with a rise of about one percent. Apart from this, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Commodities, Nifty Financial Services, Nifty India Defence, Nifty Healthcare, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Realty were in the green. Midcap and smallcap were trading with gains as compared to largecap. Nifty Midcap 100 index was at 60,054 with a rise of 172 points or 0.29 percent and Nifty Smallcap 100 index was at 17,208 with a rise of 59 points or 0.35 percent.

Tata Steel, BEL, ITC, SBI, Bajaj Finserv, UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Finance, M&M, Sun Pharma, Titan, Indigo, Eternal, Asian Paints, and Bharti Airtel were among the gainers in the Sensex pack. Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, TCS, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and NTPC were among the losers.

Asian Market Today

Globally, major markets like Shanghai, Seoul, and Hong Kong are closed for the Lunar New Year holidays. Tokyo, Bangkok, and Jakarta were trading in the green. US markets closed higher on Tuesday. In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index rose 1.13 percent to 57,205, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 0.52 percent to 26,705.
