Stock Market Today 13 Feb: Indian stock market opened in the red with a big fall. During this, the market’s main benchmark Sensex opened at 82,902.73 with a big fall of 772.19 points, while Nifty opened at 25,571.15 with a fall of 236.05 points. Till the time of writing the news, at around 9.40 am, BSE Sensex was at 82,827.71 with a fall of 847.21 points or 1.01 percent, while NSE Nifty was trading at 25,538.85 with a fall of 268.35 points, 1.04 percent.

In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap index fell 1.31 percent, and the Nifty Smallcap index fell 1.58 percent. Sectorally, the Nifty IT index declined 5 percent, led by Infosys, TCS, HCL Tech, LTI Mindtree, Coforge, and Wipro. Furthermore, the Nifty Metal index declined 2 percent, Nifty Media 1 percent, Nifty FMCG 0.8 percent, and Nifty Bank 0.35 percent.

Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 26 declined, including Infosys, TCS, HCL Tech, Tech M, HUL, Trent, M&M, Eternal, Tata Steel, NTPC, Titan, L&T, Bajaj Finserv, IndiGo, and Power Grid. Only Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, SBI, and Bharti Airtel managed to post marginal gains.

Asian markets are also in turmoil. Japan’s Nikkei index fell 0.74 percent to 57,215. Singapore’s Straits Times index fell 1.18 percent to 4,957. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 1.86 percent to 26,530. South Korea’s Kospi index rose marginally by 0.32 percent to 5,540.
