Stock Market Today 09 February: The Indian stock market has regained its momentum, opening higher today. The benchmark Sensex opened 597.11 points higher at 84,177.51, while the Nifty opened with a gain of 195 points at 25,888.70. Around 9:30 AM, BSE Sensex was trading at 84,022.17, up 441.77 points or 0.53 percent. The NSE Nifty was trading at 25,822.65, up 128.95 points or 0.50 percent.

Amidst the rally in the Indian stock market, the broader market also saw gains, with the Nifty Midcap index rising by 0.6 percent and the Nifty Smallcap index surging by 0.76 percent. Among sectors, the Nifty PSU Bank index jumped by more than 3 percent, while the Nifty Realty index rose by 1.7 percent and the Nifty Metal index gained 0.9 percent.

In the Sensex pack, shares of SBI, Titan, Eicher Motors, Kotak Bank, Tata Steel, BEL, Adani Ports, and IndiGo saw the biggest gains and were among the top gainers. Conversely, shares of Power Grid, ITC, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, HUL, and ICICI Bank were among the biggest losers.

Experts said that on the last trading day, Friday, February 6, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) made net purchases of ₹1,950 crore in the market, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) made net sales of over ₹1,265 crore.

Following Sanae Takaichi’s record-breaking victory in Japan, the Japanese Nikkei index rose by 4.27 percent. In other Asian markets, China’s Shanghai index rose by 1.17 percent, the Shenzhen index by 2.07 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index by 1.61 percent, and South Korea’s KOSPI index by 4.17 percent.
