Stock Market today 03 Dec: The Indian stock market opened flat today, with both benchmark indices trading moderately volatile in early trade. At the time of writing, Sensex rose just 12 points to 85,151, while Nifty fell 18 points to 26,014. Most key Sensex stocks were trading in red, dragging the indices lower.
Top Gainers and Losers Share Today
HUL, Titan, Tata Motors PV, NTPC, BEL, Trent, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Bank, UltraTech Cement, Maruti Suzuki, L&T, Power Grid and ITC were among the top losers in the morning session. While some stocks managed to limit the decline, TCS, Infosys, Eternal, HCL Tech, Axis Bank, Tech Mahindra and Adani Ports were trading with gains.
Midcap and Small cap Today
In the broader market, midcap and small cap stocks saw strength. The Nifty Midcap index managed to gain 0.02 percent, while the Nifty Small cap index, recovering its initial decline, rose 0.08 percent. Sectorally, IT and pharma stocks outperformed the market. The Nifty IT index rose 0.7 percent, and the Nifty Pharma index rose 0.3 percent.

PSU bank stocks remained under pressure, with the Nifty PSU Bank index falling 0.6 percent in early trade. Analysts said the market remained range-bound as mixed global cues and a weak currency weighed on investor sentiment.
Experts on Share Market
Market analysts said the ideal strategy for investors during this period of uncertainty is to remain invested in high-quality growth stocks in the large- and mid-cap segments. Small-caps, as a segment, are still overvalued and therefore best avoided.
