Petrol Diesel Price 05 May: After the outbreak of conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, the global situation had deteriorated significantly. Crude oil prices had surged from around $71 per barrel to over $100. However, following the ceasefire, a decline in crude oil prices has now been recorded.
It is worth noting that the war had been intensifying the fuel crisis in Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, the Indian government has reduced excise duty on petrol from ₹13 to ₹3 per litre, and on diesel from ₹10 to zero. In this scenario, it remains to be seen whether oil companies will pass on the benefits to consumers by reducing fuel prices.
As is routine, government oil companies released fresh petrol and diesel prices across the country at 6 AM on May 5, 2026. In India, fuel prices are revised daily based on factors such as international crude oil rates, the rupee-dollar exchange rate, taxes, and dealer margins.
