Rajasthan has been allocated Rs 9,960 crore for various railway development projects under the Union Budget 2025, a significant increase from previous years. Speaking to an agency, Amitabh, the General Manager of North Western Railway said, "In the budget, Rajasthan has been allocated Rs 9,960 crores in the railway sector, which is much more than last year. This is a big and important achievement for a state like Rajasthan which the central government has given." He further said that Rajasthan, being the largest state of India by area, is rapidly developing its railway infrastructure, work on the extension of railway lines is going fast and plans are being made to expand services on both sides of the state soon.

Ambitious Redevelopment and Expansion Plans

Rajasthan is also being extensively redeveloped. A total of 85 railway stations are being upgraded. Amitabh said that these stations have been divided into two categories: those where major development and redevelopment work is in progress, keeping in mind the local culture, and those to be developed in the future. This will be finalized most of these projects by the end of 2025 and some of the redevelopment work is expected to be completed by July 2025. Key railway stations are seeing major developments; redevelopment work at Jaisalmer railway station is nearing completion, and fast progress is being made at Gandhinagar railway station.

Andhra Pradesh sees a whopping 11-fold increase in railway funding

It has also made available Rs 9,417 crore for the railway projects in Andhra Pradesh, a whopping 11 times more than the earlier budgets. Divisional Railway Manager of Guntur district Ramakrishna has told the review meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw that this huge allocation forms part of a massive push for infrastructure development in the state.

Record Investments and Rapid Infrastructure Growth in Andhra Pradesh

Further, Ramakrishna mentioned that Rs 84,559 crore has been already approved for projects in Andhra Pradesh. Besides, 73 railway stations are under total redevelopments currently. He stated that while it was merely about Rs 268 crore that was spent on the proposed infrastructure development schemes during the first year, so far, the expense had already touched Rs 244 crore till 31 January this year. Over the last decade, Andhra Pradesh has laid down 1,560 kilometers of new railway tracks, which is a feat that goes far beyond Sri Lanka's entire railway network.

These investments in such ambitious ways would definitely benefit the state in the coming years as enhanced railway infrastructure would boost economic growth and increase connectivity.
