Indian Diaspora in Belgium Lauded by Piyush Goyal
Recently, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal paid a very meaningful visit to Belgium, meeting with Indian students, faculty members from KU Leuven University, and the Indian community in Belgium and Luxembourg. The minister discussed how India has been transformed over the past decade and how the diaspora is contributing significantly to its growth.
Goyal shares excitement on X, as "He was highly enthused when a discussion held at KU Leuven about Indian students came up which the senior faculties are also now having an insight over". He spoke about the tremendous growth India has experienced due to structural reforms, innovation, and strong leadership and encouraged the students to be part of this success during the "Amrit Kaal" – the 25-year period leading up to India's centenary of independence. He also answered a range of questions from the students on themes such as the Indian economy, initiatives to ease doing business in India, sustainable development, and trade agreements.
Speaking to India's growth as an emerging global economic giant, he expressed bold leadership that would drive further forward-looking reforms and sustainability. He invited the students to be part of India's success story, particularly at this watershed moment.
He further interacted with the Indian diaspora in Belgium and Luxembourg and hailed them as being "crucial for India's presence all over the globe." Goyal lauded them as "India's strongest brand ambassadors" for their accomplishments and the ways in which they've carved a niche for themselves outside India. Goyal added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi greatly admires the contribution of the diaspora and exhorted them to enhance their connections with India as part of their vision of "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India).
In the latter, Goyal has appreciated this diaspora by admitting that it was able to succeed in making goodwill for India. While he was reaffirming the encouragement of PM Modi to the community to be engaging further with India's progress and play an active role in shaping its future.
