FMCG Freshers Hiring in Food Processing Industry Surges 32%

India's food processing industry boosts hiring of FMCG freshers; It rose to 32% in the second half of FY 2024

Food Processing Industry is Expected to Double

The food processing industry, which is expected to double in size by 2025-26, will boost hiring in the FMCG sector, as the second half of 2024 saw a sharp increase in hiring intent for freshers, which increased to 32 percent, according to a report by TeamLease EdTech.

According to the report, the intention to hire freshers in the first half of 2024 was 27 percent.

This growth is driven by deep penetration into rural and semi-urban markets due to the rapid growth of India's food processing industry, which is estimated to double to USD 535 billion by 2025-26 with a CAGR of 12.6 per cent from USD 263 billion in 2019-20.

The food industry is creating job roles in different sectors

The report states that key product segments such as dairy, RTI foods, frozen meats and snacks are creating job roles in the supply chain and market research.

Shantanu Roose, founder and CEO of TeamLease Edtech, said, "The increase in demand for new talent in FMCG can clearly be attributed to the deep expansion in rural and semi-urban markets, driven by the rapid growth of India's food processing industry.

Each role demands a mix of technical knowledge in supply chain, inventory and logistics management, as well as adaptability and strong communication skills to navigate diverse regional markets.

Know What Percentage of Recruitment is Required ?

In Bengaluru, food engineer roles are intended to recruit 41 per cent, while in Delhi, logistics coordinators are intended to recruit 39 per cent.

Additionally, the demand for supply and distribution chain positions in Hyderabad is 37 per cent, and brand management trainees are intended to recruit 34 per cent in Bengaluru.

FMCG companies are prioritising freshers with skills in market insight, retail distribution and regional consumer understanding as they expand into untapped areas.
