Family didn’t allow for job
Mamta Garg has studied till M.Sc. After the marriage she wanted to do her dream job. But, her in-laws didn’t allow her to do the job. Mamta was very fond of handicrafts and it was her hobby. In such a situation, she started giving handicraft classes to children in her own home. With this she attained the mind peace. She used to make many beautiful things from handicrafts, which she used to decorate only in her house.
Husband dies in 2010
Mamta's husband died in 2010, after which all the responsibilities of the house fell on her. In such a situation, she decided to convert her hobby into a business. Her husband had also taken a lot of loan, in order to repay which she had to spend all her savings. Meanwhile, Mamta fell very ill but she continued her handicraft business from a small rented shop.
Expanded business by taking loan
Mamta initially used to sell decoration items in a small rented shop. She made bags and wedding decoration items. Gradually her shop started running and there was a lot of demand for her crafts. In such a situation, to expand her business further, she took a loan from the startup scheme launched by the Prime Minister. Today she makes many items like wedding accessories, bags, and home decoration items.
Mamta's son and daughter-in-law also help her in business and share her goods on social media platforms. Today her earnings are Rs 50 to 55 lakh annually from her handicraft business. Not only this, Mamta is also providing employment to 10 women.
