Like its predecessor, Border 2 is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan War. Advance bookings opened on Monday, four days before release, and witnessed a rapid increase that surpassed recent releases such as Dhurandar, though ranking remains slightly behind the numbers recorded by Gadar 2.

According to the trade tracker Sacnilk, Border 2 has already earned massive response from the public with ₹10 crore in pre-release sales for Day 1, with over 4 lakh tickets sold across nearly 15,000 shows nationwide. Attention now turns to the film’s opening-day box office performance, Whereas Border 2 surpasses the first-day earnings of 2025’s biggest releases such as Dhurandar which opened at ₹28 crore, and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which collected ₹31 crore on its debut day.

The film’s story is based on the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. After the first show, initial reactions on social media show that viewers have highly praised Sunny Deol’s powerful dialogues, the patriotic action sequences, and the background score. After its theatrical release, audiences are now excited about the OTT release. According to reports, ‘Border 2’ will stream on Netflix. However, the makers have not yet officially announced OTT release date. Based on industry trends, the film is expected to arrive on OTT in March or April 2026, after its theatrical run.
