Ramayana Teaser Release: The moment everyone had been waiting for so eagerly has finally arrived. For the past year, people have been buzzing with excitement and speculation regarding Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film, Ramayana. Everyone harboured a fear that this film, much like its predecessor Adipurush another cinematic adaptation of the Ramayana might turn out to be a disaster. However, it remains to be seen and will be fascinating to observe whether these public fears prove true, or if the filmmakers have learned from the mistakes of Adipurush and successfully rectified their errors this time around. So, let’s take a moment to discuss the newly released teaser.
Ramayana Teaser Release: What is Ranbir Kapoor’s Look Like?
In the teaser, Ranbir Kapoor is seen portraying Lord Ram; his look which had remained under wraps for quite some time has finally been unveiled. By launching the teaser on the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, the filmmakers have executed a masterstroke. This is particularly significant because *Ramayana* is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, slated for a Diwali 2026 release. The filmmakers had previously shared an introductory video, but at that time, it did not offer a clear glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor.
Now, however, Namit Malhotra has fulfilled his promise, and the first look of Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Ram’ from this monumental ₹4,000 crore production has finally been revealed. That said, this 2-minute-and-28-second video does not appear particularly special in every respect. This is noteworthy because, from the filmmakers’ perspective, Ranbir Kapoor was considered the absolute perfect choice for this role. But is he truly perfect for the part? We, for one, don’t think so. The manner in which Ranbir Kapoor has been depicted as Lord Ram in this film simply does not feel natural at all.
For context, it is worth noting that when Lord Ram embarked on his exile (Vanvas), he was approximately 25 to 26 years old. However, judging by how Ranbir is portrayed in the teaser as he sets off for his exile, it appears as though a forced attempt has been made to make him look like a 25-year-old boy. If you look at Ranbir’s close-up shot, it is clearly evident that an attempt has been made to remove the wrinkles from his face.

However, the one thing that has impressed fans the most is the action sequences featured in this teaser. Yet, when it comes to the visuals, they remain a subject of debate in many respects. For instance, observing Ranbir Kapoor’s look, it appears as though an attempt was made to shoehorn him into the role of Lord Ram; furthermore, the VFX and background score showcased in the teaser suggest that they were not executed with sufficient care.
Wherever VFX has been employed, it is glaringly obvious that the visuals are artificial; in fact, several shots even appear to be AI-generated. To put it bluntly, the visuals lack any sense of authenticity. However, setting the visuals aside, the film holds significance in several other ways. It presents a confluence of human emotion, faith, and most importantly the inherent dignity ( Maryada ) of Lord Ram, a blend capable of filling any viewer’s heart with joy.
Ramayana Teaser Release: What is the film’s budget?
Speaking of Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana, Namit Malhotra has stated that the film’s budget stands at ₹4,000 crore. However, this raises a pertinent question: where exactly was this ₹4,000 crore spent? Was it merely utilised to create a video using AI? Given the manner in which the film’s graphics and background score have been designed, it appears that even a non-professional with a basic understanding of AI could have produced them.
Ramayana Teaser Release: Will the film turn out like Adipurush?
Additionally, the teaser features a beautiful scene involving King Dasharatha and Lord Ram. In this sequence, the name “Ram” is called out, prompting Ranbir Kapoor to turn around instantly recognising it as his father’s voice. Seated alongside him is Sai Pallavi, who portrays the character of Mother Sita, accompanied by Ravi Dubey, who plays the role of Lakshman in the film. In this context, there is just one fear: that this film, too, might turn out to be like Adipurush in terms of its VFX and character portrayals. After all, the teaser for that film looked quite promising as well; yet, when the movie was eventually released, it proved to be a monumental disaster. Similarly, while this film looks decent enough in its teaser, the question remains: will it hold up just as well once it is actually released?
