Ram Gopal Varma Slams Allu Arjun's Arrest, Cites Sridevi Incident
Amid the raging controversy over the arrest of 'Pushpa 2' actor Allu Arjun, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has come out in support of the 'Pushpa' star. He raised the question while referring to an incident related to late actress Sridevi. Director Ram Gopal Varma, who is often active on social media, shared a post on the X handle and wrote in the caption, "Every star should strongly oppose the arrest of Allu Arjun, because for any celebrity, whether he is a film star or a political star, Is it a crime for him to be popular?"
Ramgopal further wrote, "In the shooting of my film 'shanam shanam', 3 people were killed among crowd of lakhs of people who came to see Sridevi, so will Telangana Police now go to heaven to arrest Sridevi?"
Talking about Allu Arjun Case, A 35-year-old woman was killed in a stampede during the screening of "Pushpa 2" at Sandhya theatre in Hyderabad on December 4. The actor was arrested in this case and was produced by the police in a local court. The court had remanded them in judicial custody. He was taken to Chanchalguda jail. However, he was granted bail by the Telangana High Court shortly after. The superstar was produced before the 9th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court at Nampally Criminal Court complex after his arrest. The court had sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
"Pushpa 2" released on December 5. Just a day before this, the screening of the film was held on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The actor is accused of reaching the cinema without giving any information. Seeing them, the crowd became uncontrollable and there was a stampede. A 35-year-old woman was killed in the stampede. The woman's son was also seriously injured. Let me tell you that Allu Arjun's statement was also revealed regarding this matter. He said the woman's death was tragic. Allu had also announced an assistance of Rs 25 lakh.
