Following the suspicious death of NEET aspirant, On Thursday Patna Police arrested the owner of hostel, as per officials. On January 14, post-mortem report indicated that “possibility of sexual assault cannot be ruled out,” that raised serious questions about the circumstances of her death. This incident took place at Shambhu Girl’s Hostel in the Chitraguptnagar police station area of Patna on January 9, that sparked tension and protest in the neighbourhood.
Police also stated that on 9th January, student was found unconscious at the hostel. She was initially taken to a private hospital, and due to her serious condition, later her family admitted her to Medanta Hospital. Despite the treatment was undergoing, student passed away tragically.
Following the release of the medical findings, local residents and students erupted protests, in demanding of strict action and comprehensive investigations. Public outraged on 9 January after this mysterious death, On Tuesday, a large crowd of students gathered and protested at Kargil Chowk, prompting police to resort lathi-charge for dispersing the crowd.

Increase in pressure by the public led to swift action by the authorities, Acknowledging the proceedings of the case, police officials arrested hostel owner, Manish Kumar Ranjan, son of Prasad, who is a resident of Sahajanand gali, Munna Chowk, Patna. The accused has been presented before court and was remanded to judicial custody.
A case (No. 14/26) has been registered at Chitraguptnagar police station based on the statement which was provided by victim’s father. Police officials confirmed that further legal proceedings are underway, and relying on collected evidence from crime scene and forensic reports.
Investigators are also questioning other female students who resides in this hostel, along with staff members, for bringing together full sequence of events and uncover the truth behind this incident.
