Falafels are delicious chickpea patties with a crispy exterior and a wonderfully soft yet dense interior.
It can be enjoyed as a snack, appetizer, or main dish along with hummus, baba ganoush, tabouli or shirazi salad, tahini sauce, & warm pita bread.
Ingredients:
Dried chickpeas, spices, fresh herbs, onions, garlic, salt, pepper, red chili powder, baking powder and oil.
Soak the dried chickpeas in plenty of water for a full day before making falafel.
Put the chopped onion, peeled garlic cloves, fresh parsley and mint, ground coriander, ground cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper into a food processor.
Add the soaked chickpeas and baking powder, then process until they are finely ground, making sure to scrape down the sides of the food processor regularly.
Take some mixture and shape it into a small ball.
Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serve falafel as an appetizer with warm pita bread, placed on a bed of hummus, and finished with a drizzle of tahini sauce.
You can garnish it with fresh parsley, sesame seeds, and sumac.
